Jones Denied England Chance Due to Injury – Intensely Monitored

Curtis Jones, the talented midfielder for Liverpool, had his hopes of earning a spot in the England squad dashed due to an unfortunate injury. Jones was in exceptional form before the setback, but a month-long recovery period kept him sidelined and prevented him from showcasing his skills on the international stage.

Jones, who is just a few games away from breaking the record for the most appearances in a single season for Liverpool’s first team, has played 28 games so far. Unfortunately, an ankle injury suffered during an away win at Brentford forced him to miss eight games and put his England dreams on hold.

Gareth Southgate, the England manager, had been closely observing Jones and was impressed with his performances before the injury. Southgate expressed his disappointment at not being able to include Jones in the squad, saying, “We were without doubt very excited by his performances.” It is clear that Southgate sees potential in Jones and believes he could be an asset to the national team.

Jones made the jump from the under-21s set up last summer and has since established himself as a realistic contender for a spot in England’s Euro squad. Although the March international break was one of the final opportunities for Southgate to assess his options, Jones may still have a chance to make it into England’s initial extended squad for the summer tournament.

In midfield, where Jones excels, Southgate selected Jude Bellingham, Conor Gallagher, Jordan Henderson, James Maddison, and Declan Rice for the March break. With Trent Alexander-Arnold also out due to injury, there is certainly room for Jones to make his mark. However, convincing Southgate to take a leap of faith and deviate from his comfort zone might prove to be another challenge for the young midfielder.

Jones is expected to make his return to the Liverpool lineup in their match against Brighton on March 31. This will be an important opportunity for him to prove his fitness and regain his form after the injury setback. If he can continue to perform at a high level, there is no doubt that Southgate will be closely monitoring him for future international call-ups.

In conclusion, although Curtis Jones was denied a chance to represent England due to his injury, he has shown immense potential and is deserving of a spot in the national squad. His performances for Liverpool have caught the attention of Gareth Southgate, and it is clear that the England manager sees him as a player with a bright future. As Jones makes his return from injury, all eyes will be on him to see if he can continue to impress and earn a place in England’s squad for upcoming tournaments.
