Man Utd Midfielder’s Entourage Shocked by Treatment at Loan Club
Hannibal Mejbri’s entourage is reportedly in disbelief over the treatment the midfielder has received at his loan club, Sevilla. Mejbri, who completed a January loan move from Manchester United, had hoped to secure regular playing time and gain experience in a top European league. However, his time at Sevilla has been far from successful.
The young midfielder has only made four appearances in La Liga, totaling just 89 minutes of action under manager Quique Sanchez Flores. This lack of game-time has left Mejbri’s inner circle perplexed and questioning why he is not being selected. They simply cannot believe the shoddy treatment he has received.
Sevilla had brought Mejbri in to fill the void left by Ivan Rakitic’s departure for the Saudi Pro League, but the youngster’s performances have fallen well below expectations. His entourage is convinced that his development has actually regressed since leaving United, and they fear he will return to Old Trafford worse off from the experience.
Mejbri joined Manchester United in 2019 for a fee of €5 million (£4.3m) from Monaco’s academy and quickly settled into life at the club. He excelled in the Red Devils’ youth teams and had hoped to continue his progression upon his return last summer. However, United manager Erik ten Hag made it clear that Mejbri’s playing time would be limited, prompting the move to Sevilla.
While Sevilla have an option to buy Mejbri outright for €18 million (£15m), they have no intention of making the move permanent. Mejbri will return to his parent club in the summer, where he is under contract until 2025.
Shortly after Mejbri’s arrival in Sevilla, reports of a training ground bust-up between him and his new teammate, Mariano, circulated in the Spanish media. However, the club quickly dismissed the rumors, with Sevilla’s president expressing excitement about Mejbri’s potential and his belief that the midfielder will succeed at the club.
It remains to be seen how Mejbri’s situation will unfold, but it is clear that his loan move to Sevilla has not gone as planned. His lack of playing time and disappointing performances have shocked his entourage, who had hoped for a more positive experience for the young talent. As he prepares to return to Manchester United, Mejbri will undoubtedly be looking to prove himself and reignite his career at his parent club.
