Newcastle United Makes Ambitious Bid for Joshua Kimmich
Newcastle United has made a bold move by submitting a bid to sign German and Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich. The 28-year-old midfielder, whose contract expires in 18 months, has expressed his desire for a new challenge away from the Allianz Arena.
Having joined Bayern from RB Leipzig in 2015, Kimmich has spent the majority of his career with the club. While Bayern wants to retain him, they are determined not to let his contract run down, as they did with Toni Kroos, who eventually joined Real Madrid on a free transfer.
Meanwhile, Newcastle United has been dealing with injuries and a long-term ban for Sandro Tonali due to betting offenses. This has prompted the club to pursue Kimmich as a potential solution to their depleted squad.
According to Sport Bild, Newcastle United has made an initial approach for Kimmich. However, the midfielder has no intention of leaving Bayern during the current transfer window and will postpone any decision about his future until the end of the season.
While Bayern is open to negotiations with Newcastle, the English club must navigate Financial Fair Play regulations. Eddie Howe’s side is walking a tightrope in terms of their financial situation.
