Mauricio Pochettino Advises Chelsea Player to Enhance Skills: It’s More Than Just Tennis
Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has delivered a message to Mykhailo Mudryk, urging the player to improve his skills and learn to play for the team if he wants to secure a regular spot in the starting lineup. Mudryk, a 23-year-old Ukrainian winger, joined Chelsea in January 2023 but has struggled to make a significant impact in the year since his arrival.
Despite being signed for a staggering £88.5m, Mudryk has only managed to score four goals in 41 appearances for the club. With just nine Premier League starts this season, he has failed to convince Pochettino that he deserves a place in the team and the Argentine manager admits that the young player has a lot of work to do.
Pochettino highlighted Mudryk’s inclusion in the Carabao Cup semi-final against Middlesbrough as an opportunity for him to prove himself. However, the winger has since been relegated to the bench. Pochettino stressed the importance of maintaining form throughout the season and selecting players who consistently perform their best during training sessions.
While acknowledging Mudryk’s amazing quality and potential, Pochettino emphasized that football is a team game and not an individual sport like tennis. He emphasized the need for Mudryk to adapt and play for the team, which requires time and adjustment.
Chelsea’s upcoming match against Wolves on Sunday presents an opportunity for Mudryk to showcase his improvement and contribute to the team’s pursuit of a higher position in the Premier League. Currently sitting in 10th place, Chelsea is determined to climb up the table and secure better results.
In other news, football pundit Paul Merson has named two underperforming Chelsea players who he believes cannot be dropped from the team. Additionally, it has been reported that manager Thomas Tuchel considered rescuing a significant transfer flop during the January transfer window.
