Manchester United in Discussions to Acquire Bayern Munich Wonderkid
Manchester United is reportedly in discussions with Bayern Munich over the potential signing of wonderkid Mathys Tel. The 18-year-old forward has caught the attention of United, who are keen to bolster their attacking options.
The Red Devils are in need of a new forward, especially with Anthony Martial set to leave Old Trafford when his contract expires at the end of the season. This would leave United with Rasmus Hojlund as their only striker option, and while the young Dane has shown promise, more depth is required.
Sky Germany reports that Tel has been identified as a potential transfer target, and talks between United and Bayern have already begun. However, two other unnamed English clubs are also interested in the French youth international, who can play as both a winger and centre-forward.
Tel joined Bayern Munich from Rennes in 2022 for a fee of £25 million. Despite his young age, there is already much hype surrounding the talented forward. He has made seven starts for the German giants so far, scoring 12 goals in 54 appearances. One of his notable goals came against Manchester United in the Champions League earlier this season.
While Tel would prefer to stay at Munich and fight for his place, he may reconsider if his game time does not increase under manager Thomas Tuchel. A loan exit has already been ruled out, and with Tel’s contract expiring in 2027, any potential transfer will come at a high price.
It remains to be seen whether Manchester United will be successful in their pursuit of Mathys Tel. However, their interest in the young forward highlights their ambition to strengthen their attacking options and compete at the highest level.
