Liverpool FC June: Anfield Expansion, Transfers, Fixtures

Date:

For the first time in a year, Liverpool’s senior team will not play a game, competitive or otherwise, throughout the month of June. However, plenty is still happening. A number of Liverpool’s internationals still have games to play this month before they can take a break. Additionally, there will be transfer activity, a new fixture list, and the official arrival of the club’s new sporting director, Jorg Schmadtke. Schmadtke will work alongside Jurgen Klopp and Co. from June 1 on an initial three-month deal. On June 7, the Reds will discover another potential opponent in the Europa League with the conclusion of the Europa Conference League final between West Ham and Fiorentina. The full list of qualified teams will not be finalized until August 31, following the qualifying and play-off stages. During the international break from June 12-20, no Liverpool player is expected to play more than two games. On June 14, the transfer window opens and Liverpool are expected to be busy. On June 15, the Premier League fixture list will be released with Liverpool asking to play the first game away from home as they put the finishing touches on the new Anfield Road Stand. Lastly, expect to see the new Anfield Road End really start to take shape in the coming weeks with the old roof completely removed. Work got underway days after the final home game of the season and by the end of the month there should be a noticeable change between the old and the new.
