Ian Wright Criticizes Arsenal Duo Zinchenko and Jesus After Draw Against Liverpool
Arsenal legend Ian Wright has expressed his disappointment with Gunners players Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus following their 1-1 draw against Liverpool on Saturday.
Gabriel Magalhaes gave Arsenal an early lead at Anfield, but Mohamed Salah equalized to secure a point for both teams.
Salah’s goal came after he bypassed Zinchenko with a brilliant 60-yard pass from Trent Alexander-Arnold, which Jesus failed to intercept.
Wright’s Criticism
In an interview with Premier League Productions, Wright highlighted the defensive errors made by Zinchenko and Jesus. He emphasized the need to close down Alexander-Arnold and deny Salah the ball.
Wright stated, “You cannot give Trent Alexander-Arnold that much space. This is a danger man. Get in his face. Try and deny him (Salah) the ball in the first place, let them pass it to someone else.”
He added, “Once you get into this situation (Salah with the ball), he wants to come inside, and Zinchenko knows this, but not many people can stop him. You’ve got to do a lot more. You cannot let him get inside that easily.”
Wright emphasized the importance of paying attention to small details and margins in order to win games. He criticized the lack of defensive effort that led to Salah’s goal.
Conclusion
Wright’s criticism highlights the defensive lapses by Zinchenko and Jesus during Arsenal’s match against Liverpool. He believes that better defensive efforts could have prevented Salah’s equalizer. Arsenal will need to address these issues in order to improve their performance in future matches.
