Barcelona’s Reaction to Jurgen Klopp as Xavi’s Replacement
Barcelona’s search for a new manager is in full swing as they prepare to bid farewell to Xavi at the end of the season. Among the candidates being considered is Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, who has been hailed as a “great coach” by Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco.
Klopp has already confirmed that he will be leaving Liverpool this summer after nine successful years at Anfield. Despite initially stating that he will take a year out of football, rumors have been circulating linking him to a move to Camp Nou.
When asked about the potential of Klopp joining Barcelona, Deco responded, “He’s a great coach but I don’t think it’s the right time to talk about that. The new coach will want to make changes but first we will have to explain the project and the ideas. There are many options.”
Deco also addressed the speculation surrounding Thiago Motta and Rafa Marquez as potential candidates for the managerial position. He admitted that he doesn’t follow Motta’s work closely but praised Marquez for his growth as a young coach. Deco believes that being at Barcelona would further enhance Marquez’s coaching abilities.
Speaking about Xavi’s successor, Deco emphasized the importance of maintaining Barcelona’s style of play. He stated, “He has to follow a line of work, we will hardly be a team that doesn’t want to play well, that doesn’t want to have the ball. Starting from that idea, each coach has his own characteristics, but whoever comes in has to have the ambition and hunger to do great things. And he must know where he is coming from.”
As Barcelona continues their search for a new manager, it remains to be seen whether Jurgen Klopp will be the one to fill Xavi’s shoes. The club is looking for someone who can uphold their renowned style of play while bringing fresh ideas and ambition to the team.
