Barcelona were unable to find the back of the net for a third consecutive game as they were held to a goalless draw in their La Liga clash with Getafe on Sunday. The visitors had two chances to break the deadlock in quick succession in the first half, with Raphinha and Alejandro Balde both hitting the post, but they were unable to find a way through.
The draw follows a stalemate against Girona on Monday and a 4-0 Copa del Rey loss to Real Madrid, but despite their goalscoring struggles, Barcelona still hold an 11-point lead over Madrid with nine league games remaining.
Raphinha came closest to scoring for the visitors after the break, but his shot from the edge of the area was palmed away by Getafe keeper David Soria with 15 minutes remaining. Barcelona manager Xavi also saw Sergi Roberto forced off with a hamstring injury midway through the first half.
Next week, Barcelona will host Atletico Madrid, who earned a sixth straight league win on Sunday with a 2-1 victory at home over Almeria. Antoine Griezmann scored twice as third-placed Atletico moved two points behind Real, and 12 points clear of fifth in the Champions League qualification race.
Elsewhere, Sevilla warmed up for their Europa League quarter-final second leg against Manchester United with a 2-0 victory at Valencia. Second-half goals from Loic Bade and Suso moved Sevilla eight points clear of the bottom three in 12th, while Valencia remain in the relegation zone, three points from safety.
