Gary Neville now believes Arsenal will win the 2022-23 Premier League title on one condition – if they beat Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, April 9.

The Gunners travel to Merseyside to face Jurgen Klopp’s team in their next top-flight fixture having beaten Leeds United 4-1 at the Emirates on Saturday.

League leaders Arsenal are currently eight points clear of second-placed Manchester City and have nine fixtures left, although Pep Guardiola’s side have a game in hand.

Arsenal, who have not even finished in the top four since 2016, are attempting to register their first Premier League trophy since 2004.

Manchester United legend Neville has long thought that the north London club will not win the title and has backed City – who have lifted four of the last five top-flight trophies – a viewpoint which has seen him villainised by Arsenal fans.

But he appears to be softening his stance and now feels it is ’50-50′ and even thinks that the Gunners will get the job done if they defeat Liverpool on Sunday.

‘It’s 50-50,’ Neville told Sky Sports. ‘My mind was certain that Manchester City were going to win the league about six to eight weeks ago.

‘I absolutely thought that by now Arsenal would have dropped lots of points and they would not be where they are. But now I think it’s 50-50.

‘I’m not going to put everything on the Liverpool game (on April 9), but our manager used to say if you won at Anfield at this time of year you would win the league.

‘Quite often that proved to be the case. If Arsenal go to Anfield and win, I would say definitely it would be their title.

‘The confidence from that would be unbelievable. Anfield is a terror of a place to go.’

Arsenal and City are still due to face each other and lock horns at the Etihad on April 26.
