Anthony Martial, the French forward, is one of four Manchester United players who may receive a contract extension in the coming months.

Longest-Serving Player at Old Trafford

Martial has been with Manchester United for nine seasons, making him the second longest-serving player after Luke Shaw.

Injury Woes and Criticism

While Martial has shown flashes of brilliance during his time at the club, injuries have hindered his progress. He has not completed a full game since January 2021 and was recently subbed off during a match against Newcastle United, drawing criticism for his perceived lack of effort.

Potential Contract Extensions

Martial is among a group of players whose contracts are set to expire at the end of the season. Manchester United has the option to trigger one-year extensions on these players, similar to what they did with Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw, Diogo Dalot, and Fred last year.

When asked about the potential contract extensions for Martial, Victor Lindelof, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and Hannibal Mejbri, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag stated that discussions are ongoing and updates will be provided when available.

Controversial Return to Manchester United

Martial’s future at Manchester United seemed uncertain when he went on loan to Sevilla in January 2022. However, he returned to the club the following summer after a disappointing loan spell.

Despite criticism from former United captain Gary Neville, who believes Martial should have been sold long ago, the French forward has scored 89 goals in 312 appearances for the club.
