Bayern Munich Sets Deadline for Tottenham to Accept Harry Kane Offer
Bayern Munich has reportedly set a deadline for Tottenham Hotspur to accept their latest offer for star striker Harry Kane. The German champions have been pursuing Kane throughout the summer and are eager to secure his signature before the start of the new season. Bayern has given Tottenham until midnight on Friday to respond to their final offer, or they will begin considering other targets.
Bayern Munich’s interest in Harry Kane has been well-documented, with the club’s top officials flying to London to meet with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy. Manager Thomas Tuchel sees Kane as the ideal replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who left the club earlier this summer. However, Bayern is not willing to let negotiations drag on indefinitely and wants a definitive response from Tottenham by the Friday deadline.
Kane is said to be keen on a move to Bayern Munich and has already agreed to personal terms. However, he is not willing to force through the transfer and wants to maintain a good relationship with his current club. The 30-year-old striker does not want to disrupt Tottenham’s preparations for the new Premier League season under new manager Ange Postecoglou.
Despite Kane’s desire to join Bayern, it is unlikely that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy will bow to the pressure. Reports suggest that Bayern’s final offer falls significantly short of Spurs’ valuation of the player. The German publication BILD claims that the offer is worth €85 million (£73.4 million) plus €10 million (£8.6 million) in bonuses, totaling £82 million. Levy was hoping to secure a fee in excess of £100 million for Kane, who scored 30 Premier League goals last season.
There were rumors that Tottenham was interested in including Bayern youngster Mathys Tel in the deal, but the Frenchman has no desire to leave the German club. Bayern believes that Kane has made them his number one choice and is willing to wait until next summer to sign him on a free transfer. However, Kane will have his pick of clubs when he becomes a free agent, so it remains to be seen if he will still be interested in joining Bayern at that time.
In addition to the Kane saga, Tottenham is also active in the transfer market themselves. The club is close to finalizing a deal for Wolfsburg center-back Micky van de Ven and is in talks with Rosario Central to sign Argentine wonderkid Alejo Veliz.
It is unclear how the situation will unfold, but it seems that both Bayern Munich and Tottenham Hotspur are determined to stick to their respective positions. Kane’s future remains uncertain, and it will be interesting to see if any developments occur before the Friday deadline.
