Stefan Bajcetic Optimistic About Return to Action After Being Named Among Liverpool Substitutes
Liverpool midfielder Stefan Bajcetic is optimistic about his return to action after being named among the substitutes for the Reds’ 3-1 win over Bournemouth. The 18-year-old Spaniard has been out of action since March due to a “stress response” around the adductor area.
Bajcetic enjoyed a breakthrough campaign prior to the setback, making 19 appearances in all competitions as he became a regular fixture in Liverpool’s midfield. After watching the game from the bench, the teenager took to Instagram to share a positive message as he looked ahead to his upcoming return to the field.
“Felt so good to see you at home again! Hopefully soon on the pitch,” he wrote. Saturday was the first time Bajcetic has been named in a matchday squad in five months and was a big step towards what he will hope is a full return in the coming weeks.
He did not travel with the squad for their pre-season tour of Singapore as he continued his rehabilitation alongside fellow countryman Thiago. Thiago himself has been sidelined since April after undergoing hip surgery and is also yet to make a full return to the side.
Bajcetic was one of the standout players of 2022/23 prior to his injury and will be hoping to pick up where he left off when he makes his full return. The Reds travel to Newcastle next weekend and the 18-year-old will no doubt be hoping to earn some minutes as he bids to integrate himself back among his peers.
The youngster’s return will be a huge boost for Liverpool, who have been without two of their key midfielders for much of the season. Bajcetic’s energy and creativity will be a welcome addition to Jurgen Klopp’s side as they look to build on their impressive form this season.
The Spaniard’s return will also provide competition for places in midfield, with Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum, Thiago Alcantara and Naby Keita all vying for a starting spot. It remains to be seen how Klopp will fit Bajcetic into his plans, but it is clear that the youngster has the potential to become an important player for the Reds.
Bajcetic’s return will also provide a much-needed boost for Liverpool’s young players, with the 18-year-old having already made an impression on the senior team this season. His return will provide an example for other young players at the club, showing them that hard work and dedication can pay off.
The midfielder’s return is a timely one for Liverpool, with the Reds looking to build on their impressive form this season and challenge for major honours in 2022/23. With Bajcetic back in action, Klopp’s side will have an extra dimension in midfield and could be set for a successful campaign.
