Former Manchester United teammates Cristiano Ronaldo and Alex Telles could be reunited at Al-Nassr, according to reports. Ronaldo left Old Trafford last December after falling out with Erik ten Hag and giving an infamous and explosive interview with Piers Morgan. He ended up signing for Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr, where he has scored 12 goals in 15 games. Telles was loaned out to Sevilla last summer after reportedly having a ‘heated altercation’ with Hannibal Mejbri in training and with Ten Hag preferring Luke Shaw and new signing Tyrell Malacia as his options at left-back. He has featured 32 times for the Spanish side so far this season and though they are underperforming in La Liga, he has helped them reach the semi-finals of the Europa League, knocking out United in the process.
AS reports that Al-Nassr are keen on signing the Brazil international and are willing to pay his £100,000-a-week wages that have put other clubs off. Telles has just one year left on his United contract and is likely to be one of the first players out the door this summer when Ten Hag intends to conduct a mass clear-out with up to 13 players potentially getting sold. Telles moved to United from Porto for £15.4million in 2020, and has made 50 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring one goal and making eight assists, helping the club to the final of the Europa League in his first season. Ten Hag wants to build upon a great first season at Old Trafford but with uncertainty around the club’s takeover will need to raise funds if he is to sign top targets like Harry Kane.
