Thomas Frank’s Message to Man Utd Star Regarding Summer Move to Brentford
Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen has received an open invitation from Brentford manager Thomas Frank to return to the club in the summer. Galatasaray, on the other hand, will not be making a move for the Danish international during this transfer window but may return with an offer in the summer.
The Turkish transfer window closes on February 9th, and while Galatasaray has expressed interest in Eriksen, it is unlikely that a deal can be completed in time. ESPN reports that Eriksen will remain at Old Trafford for the rest of the 2023-24 campaign. However, Galatasaray is keen to revisit the possibility of signing Eriksen at the end of the season.
Eriksen joined Manchester United in the summer of 2022 and started 36 games in all competitions last season. However, he has only started nine of United’s 23 league games this term. The emergence of Kobbie Mainoo as a new star in midfield and Casemiro’s return to fitness have seen Eriksen relegated to the bench for the team’s last three games. Despite this, Eriksen still has 18 months left on his contract at Old Trafford after joining on a free transfer.
Before his move to Manchester, Eriksen had an impressive six months at Brentford. He returned to football just seven months after suffering a cardiac arrest while representing Denmark at Euro 2020. Although Eriksen turned down an improved offer from Brentford in 2022, Thomas Frank has expressed his willingness to welcome the midfielder back to west London. Frank stated, “He will always be welcome back, Christian – always. I think he knows that. And we know that he had a good time here.”
Frank also acknowledged Eriksen’s decision to join Manchester United, saying, “I understood well why he went to United back then, and I’ve said that publicly. I also think he’s done well.” Despite a brief injury before Christmas, Frank believes that Eriksen would be a valuable addition to Brentford if he decides to return.
It remains to be seen whether Eriksen will consider a move back to Brentford in the summer or if Galatasaray’s interest will materialize into a concrete offer. For now, Eriksen will continue his journey at Manchester United, while Brentford and Galatasaray keep their options open for the future.
