Barcelona midfielder Gavi has been urged by former player Xavi to reject Chelsea’s advances and stay with the Catalan club. Gavi, who is just 18 years old, has already established himself as a key player for Barcelona and has made 19 appearances for the Spanish national team. However, Barcelona could lose him on a free transfer due to a contract registration dispute with La Liga. Gavi agreed to a new long-term contract with a €1 billion release clause in September, but La Liga has blocked the deal, claiming that Barcelona cannot afford his €8m salary. Until Barcelona’s appeal is successful, Gavi will remain on his Juvenil A contract and will be available to sign as a free agent. Liverpool and Manchester City are also interested in signing him, but Xavi believes that Gavi’s future should be at Barcelona. He said that Gavi has everything he needs at the club and is a key player in their team.
