Wout Weghorst’s Nightmare Performance and Goncalo Ramos’ Record-Breaking Heat Map

Date:

Following Manchester United’s defeat to Newcastle, fans of the club are already dreaming of the summer transfer window. This comes as Dutch striker Wout Weghorst struggled to make an impact during the game, managing only 10 touches of the ball in 62 minutes. Meanwhile, one of his potential replacements, Goncalo Ramos, shone in Benfica’s 1-0 victory over Rio Ave in the Portuguese Primeira Liga.

Ramos scored the winning goal, taking his tally to 25 goals in all competitions this season. He has become a first-team regular in Lisbon and also broke into the Portugal squad at the expense of Cristiano Ronaldo. Even before his showing in Qatar, Ramos’ name had already been linked with Manchester United, who are seeking a big centre forward signing in the summer window. Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Tottenham’s Harry Kane have also been linked with a move to Old Trafford, with Weghorst not looking like the answer.

Weghorst joined Manchester United in January as a stop-gap replacement up front, signing on loan from Burnley for the remainder of the season. However, he is yet to score a Premier League goal, with both of his efforts coming in the Europa League and Carabao Cup. Erik ten Hag was asked about Weghorst staying beyond the summer ahead of the game and said: “Of course. I think he is doing a lot of elements of football really well – Wout is doing a really good job for us.” However, it seems that Manchester United fans may disagree with this assessment.

It is clear that Manchester United are in need of a striker who can make an impact in the Premier League. While Weghorst has not yet proven himself in this regard, Ramos has shown that he has what it takes to succeed at the highest level. With his impressive goal-scoring record and ability to break into the Portugal squad at such a young age, he could be just the player that Manchester United need to take them to the next level.

Of course, signing Ramos will not be easy. He is highly sought after and there will be plenty of competition for his signature. However, Manchester United have the financial resources to make a big offer and the lure of playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world could be enough to convince him to make the move.

Overall, it is clear that Manchester United fans are already looking ahead to the summer transfer window and dreaming of the club making a big signing up front. While Weghorst has not yet proven himself to be the answer, Ramos could be just the player that the club needs to take them to the next level. It remains to be seen whether Manchester United will be able to secure his signature, but there is no doubt that he would be a fantastic addition to the squad.
