Paul Konchesky has stepped down from his role as West Ham manager after one season in charge. During his tenure, the Hammers reached the semi-finals of the League Cup and finished eighth in the Women’s Super League, with only one league win in 2023. Konchesky, a former England defender, was appointed assistant manager in May 2021 before taking the reigns a year later.
Konchesky expressed his pride and honour at having had the opportunity to manage the club, where he spent two seasons as a player. He also thanked his players and staff for their hard work and dedication, despite some disappointing results this season.
West Ham general manager Aidan Boxall wished Konchesky well for the future, praising him for playing a key role in the ongoing development of the women’s team. The club drew 2-2 at home to Tottenham on the final day of the season on Saturday.
West Ham have announced that further announcements on Konchesky’s replacement will be made in due course.
