Manchester United Boss Erik ten Hag Believes Marcus Rashford Can Learn from McTominay and Maguire to Regain Starting Spot
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has praised Marcus Rashford as an “incredible” player and believes he can regain his spot in the starting lineup by learning from the examples set by Scott McTominay and Harry Maguire.
Rashford Dropped for Chelsea Match
Rashford was left out of the starting lineup for Manchester United’s 2-1 victory against Chelsea at Old Trafford. The decision came after Rashford received criticism for his performance in the previous match against Newcastle, where his work-rate and attitude were questioned.
Impressive Performances by Garnacho and Antony
Alejandro Garnacho and Antony impressed in the match against Chelsea, making it risky for Ten Hag to drop either player after the team’s best display of the season.
McTominay and Maguire as Examples
Ten Hag highlighted the performances of McTominay and Maguire, who both faced uncertainty about their futures at the club during the summer transfer window. He believes Rashford can follow their example and earn his place back in the starting lineup.
“Rashford is an incredible, good player,” said Ten Hag. “He can’t play every game, and he’s not currently in the form he was last year. But I am sure he will get there. McTominay and Maguire have shown that it’s up to the players to prove themselves and earn their place in the team.”
Injury Updates
Victor Lindelof will miss the upcoming game against Bournemouth due to an injury sustained during the match against Chelsea. Jonny Evans could return to the starting lineup to face Bournemouth, while Raphael Varane has recovered from a back strain and trained with the team on Friday.
