It was an eventful night at Anfield as Liverpool secured a 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest. Diogo Jota made it back-to-back braces after going 372 days without a Liverpool goal, before Mohamed Salah grabbed the decisive third goal to seal the victory. Neco Williams, an ex-Red, scored a goal for Nottingham Forest but refused to celebrate out of respect for his former club. Taiwo Awoniyi, another ex-Red, gave Ibrahima Konate more work to do than perhaps any other forward this season. Steven Gerrard’s son Lio scored a penalty in front of the Kop at half-time, showing off his left-footedness. During the half-time interval, two lucky fans won the chance to take penalties in front of the Kop with £10,000 on the line. Jordan Henderson’s instructions to Darwin Nunez prior to Forest’s second half throw in left fans wondering why the instruction was given and trying to work out what the plan was for Morgan Gibbs-White. All in all, it was an action-packed second half that yielded five goals and three points for Liverpool.
