Rodrigo Bentancur’s Remarkable Recovery Boosts Tottenham’s Starting XI
Tottenham Hotspur manager, Ange Postecoglou, has praised Rodrigo Bentancur’s impressive and speedy recovery after the midfielder made a surprising return to the starting lineup. This unexpected comeback comes as a big boost for Spurs as they prepare to face Bournemouth on New Year’s Eve.
After suffering a disappointing 4-2 defeat against Brighton, Postecoglou has made two changes to the team. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and the suspended Dejan Kulusevski have been replaced by Giovani Lo Celso and Bentancur. The inclusion of Bentancur in the starting XI has shocked everyone, considering he was not even expected to be in the squad due to a bad ankle injury he sustained during a match against Aston Villa in November.
Bentancur had only recently returned from an ACL injury that kept him out of action for eight months. His ankle injury was initially expected to sideline him for another two months, but he has made a miraculous recovery and is now able to play against Bournemouth.
Speaking about Bentancur’s surprise inclusion, Postecoglou expressed his delight, stating that the midfielder had a good training week and is eager to get back on the pitch. The manager believes that having fresh legs with Bentancur and Lo Celso in the midfield will benefit the team. Despite going through a tough spell, Postecoglou believes that their performances have been strong overall.
However, Tottenham still has several players out injured, including James Maddison, Micky van de Ven, and Cristian Romero. Bentancur’s return will undoubtedly provide a much-needed boost, but the team will have to be at their best to secure a positive result against Bournemouth.
