Richarlison has responded to comments from Newcastle and West Ham stars Callum Wilson and Michail Antonio, who had joked about his goal celebrations following his disappointing first season with Tottenham. The Brazilian forward had only scored three goals in 35 appearances, with just one coming in the Premier League, and all of them were disallowed by VAR for offside. Antonio later claimed his comments were just ‘banter’, but Richarlison saw the comments and appears less than impressed, posting a comment on a Tik Tok clip of the podcast asking ‘How many goals do both have in the World Cup?’
Richarlison scored three goals in Qatar last December, with his scissor kick strike against Serbia winning the goal of the tournament award. Wilson was included in England’s squad for the last World Cup but is yet to score again for his country since his debut goal back in 2018, while Antonio switched allegiance to Jamaica in 2021 but was unable to help them qualify for the World Cup.
The pair certainly enjoyed better club seasons than Richarlison though, scoring 32 goals between them as Newcastle qualified for the Champions League, while West Ham have reached the Europa Conference League final. Tottenham meanwhile failed to qualify for European football for the first time since 2009.
