Tottenham Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris in Talks to Join Los Angeles FC
Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris is in talks to join Major League Soccer side Los Angeles FC on a free transfer, bringing an end to his 11-year tenure in north London.
Close to Leaving Spurs
Lloris came close to leaving Spurs in the summer and was in talks with Lazio, but a deal was not completed.
Since a 6-1 loss to Newcastle in April, the 37-year-old has been behind Guglielmo Vicario and Fraser Forster and has not played.
Having signed from Lyon in 2012, Lloris has made 447 appearances for Spurs.
Desire to Leave Tottenham
The former France international, who is about to enter the final six months of his contract, expressed a desire to leave Tottenham in the summer. He was also left out of the club’s pre-season tour of Australia and the Far East.
Lloris has achieved 151 clean sheets during his time in north London and was part of the Tottenham side that reached the 2019 Champions League final under former boss Mauricio Pochettino.
Appointed club captain by Pochettino in 2015, Lloris was replaced by forward Son Heung-min in August.
He was also part of the France side that won the World Cup in 2018 and retired from international football in January, having become the country’s most-capped player with 145 international appearances.
