Son Heung-min: Arsenal Should Fear In-Form Tottenham Ahead of North London Derby
Tottenham Hotspur captain Son Heung-min believes Arsenal will not want to face their in-form north London rivals and hopes to exact revenge after their disappointing results last season. Spurs have made a bright start to life under the tutelage of Ange Postecoglou and are unbeaten in the Premier League after five games.
That run includes last week’s dramatic come-from-behind victory against Sheffield United, with both Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski scoring in injury time to secure a dramatic 2-1 home win. After a disappointing campaign last year, which featured several managerial changes, Son now believes his side are primed to cause Arsenal problems having lost both games to bitter their rivals last season.
Son Heung-min: Arsenal Should Fear Tottenham
‘Any away game is tough in the Premier League, it’s not easy. We had a tough year at Arsenal last season,’ Son said. ‘I know what it means for the club, the fans and players as well. We should understand what kind of game it is. It’s going to be a really difficult game but they won’t want to face us at this time. We just have to give it everything we have and it will be a difficult game for both sides, but we’re looking forward to this game because it’s the right time to play against them. We’ll have a good game.’
Arsenal, however, have started the season in similarly impressive fashion and sit on the same number of points as Spurs after five league fixtures. Mikel Arteta’s side warmed up for Sunday’s fixture with a comprehensive 4-0 victory over PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League, leaving the Spurs skipper excited but under no illusions about the task facing his side.
Spurs Look to Avenge Last Season’s Disappointing Results
‘It is a special game, for them as well,’ the 31-year-old added. The result is probably the most important of the season. We had a tough year of away games, it was tough to take. Winning is never free. We have to work hard, we’re working hard in the week. The players are ready and looking forward to it. I’m pretty sure they don’t want to face us at this moment. I guarantee we’re going to give everything. The result I can’t promise you, but one thing I can guarantee is we’re going to give everything for this club on Sunday.’
Spurs vs Arsenal: Who Will Come Out on Top?
Sunday’s North London Derby between Tottenham and Arsenal promises to be an exciting affair as both sides look to prove their mettle in the Premier League. Spurs are unbeaten so far this season after their dramatic win last weekend and will be looking to avenge their disappointing results against Arsenal last season. On the other hand, Arsenal have started the season in similarly impressive fashion and warmed up for Sunday’s fixture with a comprehensive 4-0 victory over PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League.
It remains to be seen who will come out on top in this highly anticipated match-up, but one thing is for sure: Son Heung-min believes his side are primed to cause Arsenal problems and will be giving it their all come Sunday.
