Son Heung-min Staying at Tottenham Despite Huge Offer from Saudi Arabian Side Al Ittihad
Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min has declared that he will remain at the club this summer, despite a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabian side Al Ittihad. The Saudi Pro League side have already recruited Karim Benzema this summer with N’Golo Kante expected to join him, and have now offered Son a deal worth £25million-a-year.
Reports have suggested the Saudi club are preparing a £50million bid to tempt Tottenham into doing business, but Son has moved to end speculation over his future. Speaking to reporters while on international duty with South Korea, Son said: ‘I have many things to do in the Premier League. Money doesn’t matter to me now, and the pride of playing football, to play in my favourite league is important. I’ll prepare well when I’m back at Spurs.’
Harry Kane’s Future at Tottenham
Son’s comments will come as a huge boost for new Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou with the club also confident of holding onto Harry Kane this summer. The striker has entered the final year of his contract in north London and is Manchester United’s top transfer target with Erik ten Hag eager for him to lead his attack next season. United have ended their interest for now, however, unwilling to meet Tottenham’s demands for a player who could be available for free next year.
Tottenham’s Transfer Targets
Spurs are eager to bring James Maddison to the club having tracked the Leicester City star for a number of years. The Foxes have reportedly turned down a £50milliom bid for from Spurs for both Maddison and teammate Harvey Barnes. Tottenham have also agreed terms with Brentford goalkeeper David Raya as they seek to bring in a long-term replacement for Hugo Lloris. They are yet to agree a fee with the Bees, however, with their London rivals demanding £40million for their no1.
Conclusion
Son Heung-min’s decision to stay at Tottenham this summer is a huge boost for the club as they look to build on their recent successes. With Harry Kane also expected to remain at the club, Spurs will be looking to add more quality to their squad in the coming weeks and months. They have already identified some potential targets, but it remains to be seen whether they can secure any of them before the transfer window closes.
