Graham Potter Considered as Potential Replacement for Erik ten Hag at Manchester United
INEOS, the owners of Manchester United, are considering Graham Potter as a potential replacement for Erik ten Hag if the Dutchman is sacked. Ten Hag’s position at Old Trafford is under scrutiny following the team’s disappointing exit from the Champions League.
Ten Hag Under Pressure at Old Trafford
Manchester United finished at the bottom of their Champions League group, behind teams like Galatasaray and Copenhagen. This early exit will result in a loss of approximately £28 million in revenue for the club. As part of INEOS’ stake in the club, they will take control of football operations and conduct a review of Ten Hag’s position.
Potter Emerges as a Leading Contender
Although there is no immediate indication of Ten Hag losing his job, Sky Sports reports that Graham Potter is a leading contender if the Dutchman is eventually dismissed. Potter has been without a job since leaving Chelsea earlier this year. Despite his unsuccessful stint at Stamford Bridge, INEOS executives appreciate Potter’s data-driven approach and believe he was treated unfairly in west London.
Potter’s name has previously been considered by INEOS to take charge of Ligue 1 club Nice, which they also own. If he were to join Manchester United, Potter’s data-driven approach would align with the vision of the club’s new owners.
