Paulo Dybala’s Low Release Clause Sparks Interest from Premier League Clubs
Paulo Dybala, the 30-year-old forward for Roma, has a release clause in his contract worth just €13m (£11.3m), which has attracted the attention of several Premier League clubs. Dybala joined Roma in 2022 after spending seven seasons with Juventus, and he has scored 16 goals in 37 Serie A appearances since joining the Italian capital.
According to Gazzetta, the release clause will come into effect in January 2024. However, it only applies to teams outside of Italy. This means that clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea, and Newcastle can acquire Dybala for just £11.3m starting from 1 January. Italian clubs can also meet the release clause, but Roma has the ability to block a move to any Serie A side by making a bonus payment to Dybala.
Despite the release clause, there is no guarantee that Dybala will leave Roma this month. The Gazzetta report states that he has no desire to move and is reportedly happy with the club and playing under manager Jose Mourinho. Dybala has been a key player for Roma, making 12 Serie A starts this season and scoring four goals.
Mourinho is determined to keep Dybala at Roma, stating earlier this season that the forward is indispensable to the team. He emphasized the importance of playing Dybala due to his quality and stated that he is too important to be left out of the squad.
