Reiss Nelson Arsenal Pay Rise

Reiss Nelson has agreed in principle to a contract extension at Arsenal, with reports suggesting that the Hale End academy graduate will soon be earning more than his current £60,000-per-week deal. Nelson had initially appeared destined to leave his boyhood club upon the expiration of his current deal, with Brighton and AC Milan both reportedly interested in the 23-year-old winger. However, Mikel Arteta has always publicly maintained his admiration for Nelson, despite the player making only fleeting first team appearances this season following his loan spell at Feyenoord last term. It is believed that Nelson’s new contract will be a four-year deal, and he becomes the latest Arsenal youngster to extend his stay at the club, with Bukayo Saka, Aaron Ramsdale, Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Magalhaes all committing to Arteta’s project. This season, Nelson registered three goals and two assists across 11 Premier League games for Arsenal, including a dramatic winner against Bournemouth in March. Meanwhile, Arteta has ‘no intention’ of selling Emile Smith Rowe this summer, despite the Arsenal star having been reduced to a bit-part role since his return from injury. It is hoped that Smith Rowe will play a big-part for England’s Under-21 side at the upcoming European Championships and build up his fitness, ready to hit the ground running in pre-season.
