Sergio Ramos: The Unpredictable Legend
Sergio Ramos, the renowned Real Madrid legend, once again showcased his unpredictable nature during a recent match. Despite his team, Sevilla, losing 2-1 to Lens and finishing last in their Champions League group, Ramos stole the spotlight with a bizarre penalty incident.
In the 79th minute, Ramos had the chance to equalize with a penalty. Known for his audacious style, Ramos attempted a Panenka but saw his initial effort saved. However, due to encroachment from Lens goalkeeper Brice Samba, Ramos was given a second chance to retake the penalty.

Instead of simply converting the second attempt, Ramos executed a perfect Panenka, with the ball barely clearing the crossbar. But Ramos didn’t stop there. In his eagerness to retrieve the ball for a quick restart, he ran through goalkeeper Samba with his studs in the air and received a booking.
Despite the antics, this incident once again highlighted Ramos’ status as one of the greatest goalscoring defenders of all time. With 17 goals, he now holds the record for the most goals by a defender in Champions League history, surpassing his long-time rival Gerard Pique.
Sevilla’s elimination from the competition and their current position at 16th in LaLiga might mark Ramos’ final appearance in Europe’s elite tournament. If so, football fans couldn’t have asked for a more fitting send-off. Social media was abuzz with comments praising Ramos’ unique style, with one user stating, “Scores a Panenka and then throws a boot at the opposition goalkeeper. Peak Sergio Ramos.”
Another fan remarked, “Only Sergio Ramos could score a Panenka and receive a yellow card in a single play.”
