Tottenham Hotspur’s next season could see a significant change if they appoint Ange Postecoglou as their manager. After failing to sign Julian Nagelsmann and Arne Slot, Spurs have turned their attention to the current Celtic manager. Postecoglou has won two Scottish Premiership titles with Celtic and is known for his attacking style of play. His use of full-backs to overload the midfield gives the team an extra player to pass to and move the ball quickly up the pitch. This would be a significant change from the current system at Tottenham, where the previous boss Antonio Conte prefers three at the back.

Celtic’s attacking play has been successful due to their use of box-to-box midfielders, such as Callum McGregor and Matt O’Riley, who have been excellent at progressing the ball up the pitch. O’Riley could be an excellent addition to Tottenham’s midfield, which lacks creativity and attacking prowess from wide areas. Celtic star Jota, who has scored 14 goals and assisted 12 in all competitions, could be another potential answer for Tottenham’s attacking needs.

Postecoglou’s usage of full-backs is a concern for Tottenham, as it remains to be seen whether anyone in the current squad could manage those responsibilities. However, exciting prospect Destiny Udogie will arrive at the club after a season-long loan at Udinese and could be the long-term solution at left-back. The return of Rodrigo Bentancur will also prove pivotal as Tottenham’s best midfielder.

Tottenham will need to sign a new goalkeeper with Hugo Lloris leaving, and David Raya appears to be the top choice. Overall, Postecoglou’s appointment could bring much-needed change and excitement to Tottenham’s style of play.
