Arsenal Midfielder Jorginho’s Contract Talks at a Standstill, Future Uncertain
Jorginho, the 31-year-old Italy international midfielder for Arsenal, is facing an uncertain future as his agent confirmed that contract talks have reached a standstill. The Gunners acquired Jorginho from their London rivals Chelsea for £12 million on Deadline Day in January.

Jorginho signed an 18-month contract with Arsenal and has since made 30 appearances under Mikel Arteta’s management. However, due to the short duration of his contract, he is set to become a free agent at the end of the season.
Agent Joao Santos recently revealed that there has been no progress in extending Jorginho’s stay at Arsenal, although the player himself is eager to continue with the club. Speaking to TUTTOmercatoWEB, Santos stated, “Everything is at a standstill. We’ll think about it after February. However, Arsenal remains the priority.”
Limited Playing Time and Challenges
Jorginho has only started four out of Arsenal’s 12 Premier League games this season. Initially brought in as cover for Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey, he has found himself on the sidelines following the arrival of Declan Rice. The midfielder also faced criticism after the North London derby in September for his role in Tottenham’s second-half equalizer.
Looking Ahead
As Jorginho’s contract expiration looms, his future at Arsenal remains uncertain. Fans and the club are hopeful that contract negotiations will resume and a resolution will be reached to keep the talented midfielder at the Emirates Stadium.

After the North London derby, Arteta expressed his support for Jorginho, stating, “They’re allowed to make errors because they play and we don’t play. For us, it’s really easy, but if there is someone who is willing to help the team and do the most of it, it’s Jorgi. We are all with him.”
