# Germany and Brazil Look to Make Winning Starts at the Women’s World Cup
It’s time for the Women’s World Cup to begin and two of the favourites, Germany and Brazil, are set to make winning starts in their respective groups. Die Frauenteam have won the tournament twice before and are looking to make it a third time, while Brazil are the reigning Copa America champions. Both teams have quality players who can open the scoring and lead their teams to victory.
## Germany’s Ruthless Efficiency
Well drilled, exciting and dangerous are probably better terms than ‘ruthless and efficient’ to describe Die Frauenteam as they prepare to take on Morocco in their opening Group H match. Germany have always topped their group in the Women’s World Cup and they are 1/20 with most firms to do so again.
Morocco are the first Arab team to play in these finals and they have caused upsets before, most notably when they defeated 11-time champions Nigeria to reach the Africa Cup of Nations final. But Germany have a star player in Alexandra Popp who can lead them to victory. She scored 16 times for Wolfsburg last season, terrorised Euro ‘22 before picking up an injury as she warmed up for the final with England, and is 7/2 with Betway to break the deadlock against Morocco and 10/11 with William Hill to score at any time.
Germany are 15/8 with Sky Bet to win by over three goals in a performance which should be, well, ruthless and efficient.
## Brazil’s Quality Acts
Brazil are the reigning Copa America champions and they are 5/6 with Coral to win by over three goals in their Group F opener against Panama. Debinha scored five times as Brazil won last year’s Copa America and is 7/2 to open the scoring.
Brazil have many quality acts in their team, including Marta who is the all-time leading scorer in the Women’s World Cup with 15 goals. She is 11/4 with Ladbrokes to score at any time against Panama.
## Other Notable Bets
Kylian Mbappe is at loggerheads with Paris Saint-Germain over a new contract and his future is very much up in the air. He’s 8/1 with bet365 to join any Saudi club this summer but his ideal destination is Real Madrid – although it would benefit his bank account if he waits until next summer when he’s a free agent to move to the Spanish capital. Back him at 5/2 with Sky Bet to still be with PSG when the transfer window closes.
Kalvin Phillips may be the next Manchester City player to leave the club and Liverpool, seeking new midfield recruits, are 12/1 with Sky Bet to be his next employers.
The Women’s World Cup is set to be an exciting tournament and Germany and Brazil will be looking to make winning starts. With quality players like Alexandra Popp and Debinha, both teams have a great chance of doing just that.
