Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Reveals Desire for Future Management Role
Former Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has hinted at his eagerness to return to club management in the future. Speaking at an event in New Delhi, Solskjaer expressed his desire for an exciting and adventurous project. The 50-year-old has not been seen in the dugout since his sacking by United in November 2021 due to a slow start to the season.
Solskjaer had initially found success at Old Trafford, leading the team to third and second-place finishes in his two full seasons as manager. However, a string of poor results, including five defeats in seven Premier League matches, led to his dismissal following a 4-1 loss against Watford.
After two years away from the game, Solskjaer revealed that he feels the urge to return to management. He expressed a preference for a club job rather than a national team position, stating that he wants to experience the pressure and excitement of managing at a high level once again.
The Norwegian emphasized his desire for an interesting and adventurous project, where he can be himself. He acknowledged that managing Manchester United for three years was an extraordinary experience but also acknowledged the toll it took on him. Solskjaer described it as the best job in the world but admitted that being the face of the biggest and best club in the world comes with immense scrutiny and pressure.
Prior to his time at Manchester United, Solskjaer had two spells at Norwegian side Molde and an unsuccessful nine-month stint at Cardiff. After retiring, he immediately moved into a coaching role with United’s U-21 set-up. Until now, he had not taken a break from the game since the start of his playing days.
Solskjaer praised the Premier League as the best league in the world and expressed his desire to manage against the best football people. He acknowledged that the job at United was challenging but fulfilling, and he needed a break after stepping away.
While Solskjaer’s future plans remain uncertain, his passion for the game and desire to return to management are evident. Football fans across the globe will be eager to see where his next adventure takes him.
