Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku Makes Long-Awaited Debut
Mauricio Pochettino has urged patience with Christopher Nkunku, who made his long-awaited debut for Chelsea in the Carabao Cup quarter-final against Newcastle. The 26-year-old forward had been sidelined with a serious knee injury since pre-season and has spent the last four months working his way back to fitness.
A Promising Return
Chelsea fans were thrilled to see Nkunku in action as he came off the bench with 20 minutes to play. Although the game ended in a 1-1 draw, Nkunku confidently scored in the penalty shootout, helping Chelsea secure a 4-2 victory from the spot.
Pochettino Calls for Patience
When asked about the significance of the game for Nkunku and other players like Mykhailo Mudryk and Djordje Petrovic, Pochettino emphasized the importance of giving the French forward time to regain his form. Pochettino stated, “We will not put too much pressure on him day by day, and push him to arrive as soon as possible at his best to try to help the team.”
Upcoming Fixtures
Chelsea has a busy schedule ahead with three Premier League games before the end of the month. They will face Wolves on Christmas Eve, host Crystal Palace on December 27, and then travel to Luton three days later. Nkunku will hope to be involved in these matches and continue to impress the Stamford Bridge faithful.
