No Salah in Liverpool Training: 26-Man Squad Surfaces
Liverpool fans were left with mixed emotions as Mohamed Salah was absent from Thursday’s training session. The Egyptian superstar, along with six other senior players, was missing from the squad, raising doubts about his availability for the upcoming match against Burnley.
Speculation had been swirling around Salah’s status, with the club’s social media posts featuring him leading up to the game. However, it seems that Salah will continue his individual training regime in the gym as he recovers from a significant injury.
Manager Jurgen Klopp had already hinted at Salah’s absence when he ruled him out of previous clashes against Chelsea and Arsenal. The German coach is expected to provide an update on Salah’s condition, as well as the status of Dominik Szoboszlai, Thiago, and Conor Bradley, in his pre-match press conference on Friday.
Adding to Liverpool’s concerns is the possible absence of Joe Gomez. The versatile defender was not seen during Thursday’s training session, although his absence may be unrelated to injury. Klopp may shed light on Gomez’s situation during his press conference.
Liverpool’s injury list continues to grow, with long-term absentees Joel Matip, Stefan Bajcetic, and Ben Doak still unavailable. The team’s defensive and midfield options have been severely limited due to these injuries.
However, Klopp has included a number of talented youngsters in his squad for the Burnley clash. Bobby Clark, James McConnell, Kaide Gordon, Lewis Koumas, Jayden Danns, Calum Scanlon, Trey Nyoni, and goalkeeper Kornel Misciur have all been given the opportunity to impress.
One positive development for Liverpool is the return of Wataru Endo from the Asian Cup. The Japan captain is expected to be in contention for a starting spot this weekend.
Apart from the uncertainties surrounding Gomez, there don’t appear to be any new injuries in the squad, except for Thiago. The midfielder picked up a muscle problem during his comeback cameo against Arsenal and will be sidelined.
One player who won’t be available for the Burnley clash is Ibrahima Konate, who is serving a suspension.
Despite the absence of key players, Liverpool remains determined to secure a victory against Burnley. With a mix of experienced stars and promising youngsters, Klopp’s squad is ready to face the challenge head-on.
