Mykhailo Mudryk’s Goal for Chelsea Draws Comparisons to Bukayo Saka
Mykhailo Mudryk’s recent goal for Chelsea has sparked comparisons to Arsenal star Bukayo Saka, as fans noticed an interesting statistic. Mudryk scored the opening goal in Chelsea’s 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace on Wednesday night, marking his second goal in three games.
Mudryk now has a total of four goals this season, with three of them coming in the Premier League across 17 appearances. All of his goals have been scored from open play, as the 22-year-old is not a regular penalty taker or involved in set-pieces for Chelsea.
This tally of three non-penalty goals in the Premier League is the same as Saka, who has scored five goals so far this season.
Despite Saka scoring more goals than Mudryk, Chelsea fans couldn’t help but point out this statistic on social media. One fan said, “Mudryk having the same number of non-penalty goals as Saka this season needs to be spoken about more.”
Another fan added, “Hearing Mudryk has the same amount of non-penalty goals as ‘best right winger in the world’ Saka with less minutes? I know who my starboy is.”
Arsenal fans responded by highlighting their team’s success, with one saying, “While one team is doing extremely well, the other team is struggling with mid-table teams just to have a chance sitting in the 10th position.”
In response to their rivals, another Arsenal fan added, “Saka has more goals this season [8] than Chelsea have league wins [7].”
Mudryk’s first goal for Chelsea this season came in their 2-0 away win against Fulham, followed by a goal against Arsenal in their 2-2 draw. His goal against Crystal Palace came just over a week after he scored a late equalizer in the Carabao Cup against Newcastle.
In the penalty shootout against Newcastle, Mudryk scored Chelsea’s final spot-kick, helping them progress to the semi-finals with a 4-2 victory. Mudryk’s latest goal contributed to Chelsea’s seventh Premier League win of the season, with Noni Madueke scoring the winning goal.
