Nathan Jones Under Consideration for Millwall Manager Job
========================================================
Millwall are considering former Luton Town and Stoke City manager Nathan Jones for their vacant manager’s job. Jones, 50, has been out of work since his three-month stint at Southampton ended in September 2020.
No decision has been made yet and there are other candidates, but Jones is well thought of among Millwall’s hierarchy. The Lions have been without a manager since Gary Rowett left by mutual consent on 18 October 2020, and have collected two points from their past three Championship games since his departure, leaving them 18th in the table.
Nathan Jones’ Career
——————–
Jones had two impressive spells as Luton Town boss and managed Stoke City in between, but had less than 12 months in that job before he was dismissed in November 2019 after just 14 matches in charge. He then took the role of manager at Southampton in August 2020, but was sacked after just three months and 14 matches in charge.
Jones’ time with Luton Town was particularly successful, leading them to promotion from League Two in 2018 and to the League One play-offs in 2019, where they lost to Charlton Athletic in the semi-finals. He also won the EFL Trophy with Luton in 2019 and was named League One Manager of the Year for the 2018–19 season by the League Managers Association (LMA).
Millwall’s Search for a Manager
——————————
Millwall have been searching for a new manager since Gary Rowett left in October 2020 and have been linked with a number of candidates, including former Barnsley boss Daniel Stendel and ex-Reading manager Paul Clement, as well as Jones.
Millwall have had a difficult start to the season and are currently 18th in the Championship table, with just two points from their last three games since Rowett’s departure. Millwall’s hierarchy are now considering Jones for the role and will make a decision in due course as to who will take over as manager of the club.
