Martin Dubravka Reveals Whether He Received a Carabao Cup Winner’s Medal

Goalkeeper Martin Dubravka has finally revealed whether he received a Carabao Cup winner’s medal after being in a bizarre situation during the final between Manchester United and Newcastle United. Dubravka, who was on loan at Old Trafford from Newcastle, found himself cup-tied for the final.
A Strange Situation
Dubravka played twice in the Carabao Cup for Manchester United before unexpectedly returning to Newcastle in January. However, he was unable to play in the final as he had already represented Manchester United in the competition. As a result, Newcastle had to start Liverpool flop Loris Karius in goal, and they ultimately lost 2-0.
Did Dubravka Receive a Medal?
Since then, there has been speculation about whether Dubravka received a winner’s or runners-up medal. The Slovakia international has now confirmed that he did receive a medal. “I got one. I didn’t really expect it because I didn’t know if they would give it to me,” he said. He received the medal five weeks after the final when Manchester United traveled to Newcastle for a league match.
Supporting Newcastle
Dubravka also expressed his support for Newcastle during the final, despite having played for Manchester United earlier in the season. “I always support Newcastle because of the length of time I’ve spent here. It was five-and-a-half years as opposed to five months, so you can’t compare. I wanted Newcastle to win for the city, for the club because the fans are just waiting for something special,” he explained.

Looking Ahead
Dubravka now has another chance to win the Carabao Cup this season as he is set to start in Newcastle’s quarter-final clash against Chelsea. He expressed his excitement about the opportunity and the desire to win something for the club and its fans. “It would be absolutely fantastic. Everyone is buzzing here and everyone wants to win something and achieve something here,” he said.
