Erik ten Hag furious with Manchester United fixture list after double injury blow
Erik ten Hag is furious with the amount of fixtures Manchester United are being made to play after the Red Devils confirmed a double injury blow.
The Dutchman is set to be without Lisandro Martinez for an ‘extended period’ and have also lost Sergio Reguilon to injury, the club announced on Friday.
United’s defence has been ravaged by injuries of late, with Martinez joined by Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia in the treatment room.
Ten Hag hits out at United’s fixture schedule
Ten Hag has now hit out at United’s fixture schedule as he faced the media on Friday prior to the weekend’s Premier League clash against Crystal Palace.
‘Every time the schedule is expanding, the load on the players is too much, it’s such a great overload,’ Ten Hag said. ‘Many colleagues of mine have pointed to that and I have pointed to that as well. But it keeps going. We keep expanding the schedule.
‘Anywhere, it won’t stop. Players can’t deal anymore with this overload and I think that’s what you say in this squad at the moment.’
Eriksen and McTominay available for Palace clash
Ten Hag, though, has confirmed that Christian Eriksen and Scott McTominay are both available for Saturday’s clash against the Eagles at Old Trafford.
‘We have seen some players back on Tuesday, and tomorrow, back are the players who were out of the squad for Tuesday: Scott McTominay, Christian Eriksen,’ Ten Hag added. ‘They are back.’
Sancho not featuring for United any time soon
One player who will not be featuring for United any time soon is Jadon Sancho and asked for an update on the player, Ten Hag said: ‘Many of you ask me this so often, these questions, and I have said everything. I said everything.’
Conclusion
Erik ten Hag is clearly frustrated with the amount of fixtures Manchester United are having to play due to their injury crisis. With Lisandro Martinez and Sergio Reguilon both out injured for an ‘extended period’, Ten Hag is worried about the overload on his players. However, he has confirmed that Christian Eriksen and Scott McTominay are both available for Saturday’s clash against Crystal Palace. Unfortunately, Jadon Sancho will not be featuring for United any time soon.
