Manchester United secured a seriously late win over Brentford on Saturday, trailing at 90 minutes but going on to win the match for the first time in Premier League history.

It looked like it was going to be another bad day for the Red Devils when Mathias Jensen put the visitors ahead after 26 minutes and the Bees stayed in front for over an hour.

McTominay Emerges as Hero

However, Scott McTominay emerged as the hero, coming off the bench to score in the 93rd and 97th minute to delight the Old Trafford crowd and take some pressure off Erik ten Hag.

Opta confirmed that never before had United been behind going into the 90th minute but won the match in the Premier League.

McTominay was understandably thrilled, saying it will go down as one of the most memorable few minutes of his career.

‘That might be one of my favourite moments on a football pitch,’ he said. ‘Two goals at the death was incredible, but I am just happy to be able to contribute and show people that I can do it.’

Massive Win for United

‘[The win is] Massive. Everyone knows we are in a difficult period at the minute, but we have fighters in the group that want to keep going right until the end.

‘It could have been anyone on that pitch scoring the two goals. Really pleased and hopefully we can build on that from here.

‘Sometimes we feel like we are in our own bubble with people outside only saying negative things, but we just have to block that out and be better after the international break.’

Harry Maguire made his first Premier League start of the season against Brentford, having missed the start of the campaign through injury.

The England international was delighted with his team’s performance, saying: ‘It was a great comeback from us. We showed great character and spirit to come back and win the game. It was a great performance from us and I’m delighted for Scott McTominay.’
