Leon Goretzka has ‘no intention’ of leaving Bayern Munich this summer
Manchester United transfer target Leon Goretzka has once again signalled he only wants to play for Bayern Munich, telling Sky Germany: ‘I have no intention to leave Bayern. I love the club, I love the city, I love the fans.’
Goretzka has been consistently linked with Old Trafford over the years and was yet again a target for United last summer, only for the midfielder to tell Erik ten Hag he wanted to stay in Munich.
Erik ten Hag’s Plans
Ten Hag has already strengthened his midfield this summer by bring in Mason Mount from Chelsea, but ideally would like another player in that area. And just last week, it was reported that Bayern were willing to sell Goreztka for a bargain £34million as they look to raise funds for top target Harry Kane.
The 28-year-old has recorded 34 goals and 35 assists in 179 games for Bayern since joining from Schalke in 2018, winning five Bundesliga titles and the Champions League.
Though a top talent, the German international is not in Thomas Tuchel’s plans as he wants to partner Joshua Kimmich with new signing Konrad Laimer in his midfield.
Liverpool Interest
Goretzka had also emerged as a transfer target for Liverpool with Jurgen Klopp continuing his overhaul of his midfield. So far the Reds have signed Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai but the latter has recently sustained an ankle injury and the club are also set to lose Fabinho and Jordan Henderson.
Conclusion
It looks like Goretzka will be staying put at Bayern Munich this summer, despite interest from Manchester United and Liverpool. The German international is a top talent and has proven himself at the highest level, winning five Bundesliga titles and the Champions League. For now, Goretzka is content to stay in Munich and continue to add to his impressive tally of goals and assists.
