Man Utd Teenagers’ Impressive Playing Time Revealed
Manchester United has been relying on their teenage players this season, and it has paid off. Players like Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo have become key figures for manager Erik ten Hag. In fact, Man Utd has given more minutes to teenagers than any other top six team in the Premier League. They have played a staggering 3,637 minutes, almost three times as much as the combined total of Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Tottenham, and Aston Villa.
Garnacho, 19, has been one of Man Utd’s most played players this season, accumulating 1,988 minutes on the field. Mainoo, who is just 18 years old, has also been given significant playing time with 1,358 minutes. The team has also relied on other young talents like Willy Kambwala, Omari Forson, and Dan Gore, who have collectively played for 291 minutes.
Fans have been pleased to see the academy players being given opportunities despite the team’s struggles this season. They believe that these young players are the future of the club and credit Ten Hag for nurturing their talent. Many are optimistic about what lies ahead for Man Utd with these promising youngsters in their ranks.
While Man Utd leads the top six teams in terms of minutes given to teenagers, Manchester City ranks second with 698 minutes. However, all of City’s minutes have been given solely to Rico Lewis. Aston Villa, under Unai Emery, ranks third with 360 minutes, with the majority of those minutes going to Jhon Duran and Omari Kellyman.
Liverpool, known for their successful academy system, has handed just 117 minutes to teenagers this season. This figure is spread across five players, including Bobby Clark and Trent Alexander-Arnold. Tottenham comes in fifth with 50 minutes given to Alejo Veliz, Jamie Donley, and Dane Scarlett.
Surprisingly, Arsenal ranks at the bottom of the list, with only 14 minutes given to Ethan Nwaneri this season. Nwaneri, a 17-year-old talent from Arsenal’s Hale End, recently signed a professional contract with the club.
Although Man Utd has given significant playing time to teenagers, they are not at the top of the full Premier League table in this regard. Brighton leads the league by giving a whopping 4,588 minutes to teenage players. Burnley, Bournemouth, and Sheffield United also rank high on the list.
Overall, Man Utd’s commitment to nurturing young talent has been commendable. With the likes of Garnacho and Mainoo leading the way, and more academy prospects training with the first team, the future looks bright for the Red Devils.
