Man Utd Engages in Discussions with Former Liverpool Transfer Experts behind Salah & Mane Signings
Manchester United is reportedly in talks with Ludonautics, a sports data company run by former Liverpool transfer chiefs. The club’s transfer policy under the Glazers has faced criticism, especially in comparison to rival clubs like Liverpool, who have been able to sign better players at cheaper prices. In an effort to improve their recruitment set-up, United’s minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has been overhauling the boardroom and is now in discussions with Ludonautics.
Ludonautics, founded just last year, is led by Liverpool’s former Director of Research Dr Ian Graham, who spent 11 years at Anfield. Michael Edwards, the former sporting director of Liverpool, also works for the company as a consultant. Edwards and Graham are widely credited with helping Liverpool identify many of their world-class stars, including Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, and Andy Robertson, who played key roles in the club’s Premier League and Champions League success.
While it is not known if United has made a formal offer to hire Ludonautics, it is clear that Ratcliffe hopes to replicate Liverpool’s success by bringing in experts from the club. Ludonautics has already been appointed by several clubs in Europe to provide valuable analytics, although their list of clients remains undisclosed. Ratcliffe and his team are still in discussions with other data and analytics providers.
On the pitch, United will be aiming to close the gap to the top four when they face Everton on Saturday. The club’s focus on improving their recruitment set-up shows their ambition to compete at the highest level. With the potential addition of Ludonautics, United could enhance their ability to identify talented players and make better signings in the future.
