Manchester United midfielder Casemiro has received his second red card in as many games, this time for a high challenge on Carlos Alcaraz during the Red Devils’ goalless draw at Southampton. The Brazilian had previously been sent off during United’s win over Crystal Palace last month. Erik ten Hag, coach of Ajax, criticised the lack of consistency in refereeing decisions, citing Leicester defender Ricardo Pereira’s escape from a red card for a stamp on Chelsea’s Joao Felix on Saturday. Ten Hag also noted that Casemiro had never received a straight red card during his nine-year spell at Real Madrid, which saw him make over 330 appearances. However, talkSPORT’s Adebayo Akinfenwa called Ten Hag’s comments “irrelevant” and suggested that Casemiro needed to adapt his game to the Premier League.
