Brandon Williams has caused controversy with his recent social media posts, leading to his bosses at Manchester United expressing their displeasure. The left-back took to Instagram to take a swipe at Manchester City following their Champions League win, which completed a treble. Williams was unhappy that City had matched United’s feat from the 1998/99 season and wrote on his Instagram story: “Nobody wants a sloppy seconds.” He also criticised United legend Rio Ferdinand for congratulating the City squad on BT Sport, calling him two-faced and accusing him of being fake for money. ESPN reports that United have distanced themselves from Williams’ comments and are disappointed and unhappy with the defender. This could further see him frozen out of the team, as he has failed to play a single Premier League game in the 2022/23 season. With just a year left on his deal, Williams may seek a move away from Old Trafford this summer.
