Adam Lallana and Alexis Mac Allister have exchanged heartfelt messages after the latter’s move to Liverpool from Brighton was confirmed on Thursday. Mac Allister, who signed for Brighton in 2019, has built an impressive reputation with the Seagulls, making 112 appearances for the club and scoring 20 goals. His performances have earned him a regular spot in the Argentina squad and he played a big part in their World Cup win in Qatar over the winter, which saw big clubs circling for his signature. Liverpool won the race to sign him and former Reds star Lallana, now at Brighton, wished Mac Allister well at Anfield after enjoying their time together at the Amex. Mac Allister replied: ‘What a player and what a guy you are! Thank you for what you’ve done for me, you were a big part of my success. All the best for the future!’ Former Brighton defender Shane Duffy also responded to Lallana’s post, writing: ‘Couldn’t have worded it any better 🫡 good luck Alexis you deserve it all.’
Lallana spent six seasons with Liverpool, winning the Premier League and Champions League in the process before leaving for Brighton in 2020 where he has taken on a role of senior professional. The 35-year-old has not been a regular starter under Roberto De Zerbi, making just 16 Premier League appearances this season, but is seen as a really important member of the squad and is very well thought of, as evidenced by Mac Allister’s message to him.
