Liverpool have made an initial approach for Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch, according to reports.

Jurgen Klopp is keen to strengthen his midfield options in the upcoming transfer window, however, it’s understood that they will not make a move for Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham this summer.

Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount, who will have just a year remaining on his contract at the end of the season, is one of Liverpool’s priority targets.

However, The Times report that Liverpool have now made a move to bring Gravenberch to Anfield this summer.

The report claims that a Liverpool official has held talks with Gravenberch’s father in the Netherlands earlier this week.

The report claims that the midfielder is considering his options having struggled for playing time at Bayern this season, while Liverpool expect that the deal could cost around £25 million.

Gravenberch joined Bayern in a €18.5m (£16m) deal from Ajax last summer but has been unable to establish himself as a regular for the Bundesliga champions.

The 20-year-old has started just three games for Bayern this season and his lack of playing time saw him miss out on a place in Netherlands’ World Cup squad at the end of 2022.

When asked about Gravenberch’s situation earlier this week, Thomas Tuchel indicated that the midfielder remains in contention to get more minutes.

‘He did well when he was subbed on against Freiburg,’ Tuchel said. ‘I’m not thinking any further than Hoffenheim right now. He’s a candidate to start or to come on during the game.’

Gravenberch did not start against Hoffenheim but came on with 10 minutes remaining as Bayern were held to a 1-1 draw at home.
