Liverpool Striker Jayden Danns Impresses with 17 Goals and Fast-Track Promotion
Liverpool striker Jayden Danns has been making waves in the youth ranks, scoring an impressive 17 goals this season. At just 18 years old, Danns is set to take on an increased role with Liverpool U21s in the second half of the season.
Danns, the son of former Premier League midfielder Neil Danns, began the campaign as a key player for Liverpool U18s. He ended the year with 15 goals in 13 games, including a last-minute winner in a brace against Fleetwood in the FA Youth Cup.
In his first start for the U21s, Danns wasted no time in finding the back of the net, scoring within 13 minutes. This brought his season’s tally to 17 goals in 16 appearances, with an average of a goal or assist every 63.2 minutes.
Danns’ promotion comes after the sale of Paul Glatzel to Swindon and the absence of players like Mateusz Musialowski, Melkamu Frauendorf, and Tom Hill. Hill, who suffered an ankle injury, has expressed interest in a loan move in January. Meanwhile, interest from clubs in England, Denmark, and Belgium suggests a potential reshuffle in the academy.
With his impressive performances and well-rounded game, Danns is expected to secure a regular starting role with the U21s. His versatility and strong work rate off the ball, as well as his movement, hold-up play, and creativity on it, make him a valuable asset for Liverpool.
The U21s will have their next match against Fulham on January 28, giving Danns time to prepare for his new role. However, he may also feature in the U18s’ upcoming FA Youth Cup match against Arsenal on January 20.
