Kieran Trippier to Miss Newcastle United’s Premier League Clash Against Liverpool Due to Injury
Newcastle United’s right-back, Kieran Trippier, will be absent from the squad for their upcoming Premier League match against Liverpool. This news was confirmed by Newcastle manager Eddie Howe. Trippier has been a regular starter for the team, featuring in 18 out of 19 league games this season and also playing in the Champions League group stages.
Unfortunately, Newcastle has been struggling recently, losing six out of their last seven games in all competitions. Trippier’s own form has suffered during this difficult period. As a result, he was left out of the squad for the match against Liverpool at Anfield.
In addition to Trippier, striker Callum Wilson will also be missing from the squad due to an injury. Howe stated that both players picked up knocks in the team’s 3-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest on Boxing Day. However, Howe believes that the injuries are not too serious and hopes that they will not be out for an extended period.
Tino Livramento will replace Trippier at right-back, while Alexander Isak will continue to lead the line in Wilson’s absence. Newcastle faces a tough challenge as they have not won a Premier League game at Anfield since April 1994. They also lost the reverse fixture against Liverpool earlier in the season.
Howe emphasized the need for Newcastle to be strong in every aspect of their game against Liverpool, as any weaknesses in their structure or setup will be exploited by Liverpool’s quality players. He also mentioned that playing at Anfield is always a great experience and that the team has learned from their previous encounters with Liverpool.
Liverpool, currently at the top of the Premier League table, has the opportunity to extend their lead with a win in this match.
