Jordan Henderson Leaves Liverpool After 12 Years for Saudi Arabian Club Al-Ettifaq
After 12 years with Liverpool, captain Jordan Henderson has left the club to join Saudi Arabian club Al-Ettifaq in a deal worth £12m plus add-ons. The 33-year-old England midfielder announced his departure in a goodbye video the day before.
Liverpool released a statement thanking Henderson for his time at the club, saying, “Everyone at the club wishes to place on record their thanks and gratitude for everything Jordan did for us.” Henderson was part of the team that won the Premier League and Champions League during his time at Liverpool.
Henderson is the latest in a string of players to leave Liverpool this summer, including Dejan Lovren, Adam Lallana, and Nathaniel Clyne. The club has yet to make any major signings to replace them, but they are reportedly in talks with Bayern Munich’s Thiago Alcantara.
Jordan Henderson’s move to Al-Ettifaq marks the end of an era for Liverpool, and fans will be sad to see him go. However, they can take comfort in knowing that he will continue to be a part of the football world and will be remembered as a great leader and player for Liverpool FC.
